PRODUCT INFORMATION
SARVAM (Sri Aurobindo Rural & Village Action & Movement), a unit of Sri Aurobindo Society in Puducherry has experimented with an innovative concept in rural development, called ‘Integral Rural Development’. It takes a spiritual approach to rural development which is value based and human-consciousness centered.
It includes and the same time transcends the basic material needs of humans. The idea is being implemented successfully in two villages, Perambai and Poothurai of Villupuram district of Tamil Nadu. This book is the result of a self-anchoring exercise that SARVAM took up in January 2014. It explains the concept of Integral Rural Development, the principles that emerged from it in practice and the plans for sustaining and taking it up on a larger scale.
